About Me 

Hi,

I'm Jo White.  Thanks for your interest in our service.  

I have an extensive back ground in this field, including my role as Family Counsellor at Amaze. This role gave me a very specific understanding of the needs of families with a new diagnosis of autism in the family including such issues as grief and anxiety.

I feel very privileged to have worked so closely with adults who have a diagnosis of autism and to have shared their journey with them.

​

My role at Amaze also involved researching, preparing and presenting Information Sessions to parents as well as presenting training to organisations. I also worked as an Autism Advisor with Amaze, connecting parents with funding and consulting with them on their choice of therapy for their children. 

​

Prior to Amaze, I spent years working as a Special Education teacher and Facilitator at a number of organisations including The Cheshire School, Biala Early Intervention Centre and Southern Autistic School. I have extensive experience working with families in the Monash University Pre Schoolers with Autism Program.  I also have been involved in the research sector as the Peer Support and Education Co-ordinator at the Genetic Support Network of Victoria at Murdoch Children's Research Institute.

One of my prior roles was at Windermere Child and Family Services as the ASD/ADHD Specialist Consultant.  This role enabled me to gain a much deeper understanding of family life with ASD as I was invited into family homes to help and support them.

Our team provides specialist counselling for parents, children, teens, adults and couples who either have ASD or are caring for someone with ASD.
